Beckett's birth

Things are pretty crazy around here, but everyone is asleep at the moment and I'm checking blogs and thinking about what to share. Not sure I ever wrote out the other two birth stories, so this may be a good time to start!

We had home group at our house on the night of the 2nd and those days left me pretty exhausted while pregnant. I was very busy cleaning and cooking, getting ready for everyone to come over. The next morning I woke up and started having mild contractions immediately. They weren't painful and I was actually hoping they were not the real deal (considering how hectic the day before had been, I figured I was just overtired), because we had a very busy week planned before my scheduled induction on the 10th. However, my doctor told me the week before that she was going to be out of town for a week, so I was pretty sure I'd go into labor, considering I have a knack for having babies the days my docs can't be there. So by that afternoon I was still having contractions. I called my doc office and they said I needed to go to the hospital. I was certain it was a false alarm, but I called Ben and took the kids to our friends' house. Ben was golfing and asked if he could finish the front 9. I said sure. We seriously took our sweet time and got to the hospital at 6 pm (we laughed about how this is what happens with #3). I was not any more dilated than I had been at the office the week before, but they monitored me and I was having very consistent contractions. They were afraid to let me go home b/c I'd gone very quickly with Chaz. So finally, at 10 pm, I'd dilated another centimeter and they admitted me. I still couldn't believe it. At midnight I got an epidural and when they were doing it I was just hoping this was the real deal! I'd played around with the idea of not getting one, but then I found out he had a giant head, so that idea was thrown out the window (plus, Ben REALLY wanted me to get one).

I tried to sleep, but it just wasn't happening. My parents arrived at 3 in the morning and we all tried to doze off in the hospital room. I didn't see the doctor until 8:30 the next morning. I was finally a 4, so she broke my water and we kept waiting. Then, at 2 in the afternoon I was a 6. 45 minutes later I was ready to deliver. They called the doctor and after pushing for about 5 minutes Beckett was born at 3:05 pm! All in all, Beckett's labor was longer than Liza Jane and Chaz's combined! Crazy, but definitely worth it!
